NATIVITY
PHOTOS
Santa's
monopoly on Christmas photography is being challenged by the growth
of Nativity Photos.
Nativity Photos offer children the chance to dress up as Mary, Joseph or the three wise people and be photographed in a life-size nativity setting at St. John's Anglican Church West Brunswick. Parishioners at St. John's have made the costumes and photographer Gavin Hansford takes the photos.
The concept is the brainchild of Anglican priest , Howard Langmead , who wanted to offer an alternative to Santa photos .
Since the first Nativity Photos were taken in 2004 the idea has spread around Victoria and interstate. Howard has been interviewed about the idea on Vatican Radio from Rome.
